welcome to the human sound project

become a part of humanus sonus

The Humanus Sonus Project is a globally collaborative work with the goal of giving insight into our selves and those around us. The work delivers a representation of each of its contributing members by an image or by voice.

The project can appear in various settings but involves simply a computer, mouse, and projector. The computer runs the interface for the piece with is then projected onto whatever surface is present at the site of the installation. The projection shows a grid or waterfall of images representing the people who have contributed to the work.

Using the mouse, the viewer can roll over the images, triggering a phrase that is played through the sound system. The phrase is an answer from one of the contributors when asked one of a series of questions from a list of universal human concepts.  Each image that the viewer hovers over generates another phrase, eventually producing a cacophony of voices answering the same types of questions.

The voices eventually resolve themselves down to one or two phrases, before dying away altogether

The project is currently gathering contributions of voices for use in the installation at its various showings and screenings.  All contributions are valid and desired.  For information on how to contribute, click here.  Check back often to add your voice and watch for an online version of the project.
